I’ve always believed in supporting local. Growing up in Romania, I saw firsthand how communities thrive when they support local farmers, artisans, and producers. That philosophy has stuck with me, and it’s something I bring into every charcuterie board I create.
In Santa Ynez, I’m fortunate to have access to incredible local produce, meats, and cheeses. Every week, I visit the farmers' market, where I pick out the freshest ingredients for my boards. There’s something special about knowing where your food comes from, about supporting the people who grow, make, and produce it. It adds an authenticity to the food that’s unmatched by store-bought options.
By choosing local ingredients, I’m not only ensuring that the food is fresh and seasonal, but I’m also connecting my customers with the community around them. The food I put on my boards is a reflection of the region’s bounty and a celebration of the people who help make that happen. It also sparks my creativity, because I don't always find exactly what I am looking for and I need to adjust to what is fresh and available.
